Vision of Guru Rinpoche (14×17)
$40.00
This tangka was composed and painted in 1961 by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche according to a vision of Guru Rinpoche (Padmakara). Guru Rinpoche is seen on a cloud coming toward the viewer. The position of the vajra in his right hand identifies him as being in the form called Guru Nangsi Silnön, “the guru who is the overpowerer of all apparent phenomena and the whole of existence.” The composition of the tangka is unconventional in that all features of landscape are absent, and the vision is suspended in the middle of blue sky. This limited edition print is published along with Vision of Yeshe Tsogyal as the two were conceived of as a pair.
All effort was taken to ensure the highest quality reproduction for this limited-edition print. The color separations were made directly from the original artwork to minimize the distortion in the final print. The artwork was printed by the Stinehour Press, Lunenberg, Vermont, one of the foremost color printers in North America, specializing in four-color limited editions of precious artwork on uncoated paper.
The artwork is printed on an uncoated archival-quality paper, Mohawk Superfine, so that the print closely reproduces the feel, color and texture of the original artwork. Under the proper matting, mounting, and storage conditions, this reproduction should last hundreds of years with little deterioration.
