Robin Kornman
Robin Kornman (1947-2007) is best known for his work as a Buddhist scholar and teacher. He was a founding member of the Nalanda Translation Committee. Up until his death he spent many years working on an English translation of the epic of Gesar of Ling. A passionate scholar and intellect, Robin was a delightful storyteller with an incredible lust for all the enjoyments of life. A longtime student of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Robin lived at Karme Chöling for about five years during its heyday in the early 1970s before moving to RMDC and then Boulder. Robin earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Princeton University and published many articles on Buddhism, Gesar, and the Shambhala teachings. He was an inspiration and guide to many people in the Shambhala community and is greatly missed by everyone who knew him. To read more, see our article “Remembering Robin”
