Gerry Wiener
Gerry began studying Tibetan at Naropa Institute in 1974 and shortly thereafter became a member of the Nalanda Translation Committee. At that time he primarily focused on the translation of the Life of Marpa the Translator and assisted with the translation of the Vajrayogini sadhana. Later he assisted in the translation of the Shentong Seng-nge Ngaro written by Jamgön Mipham Gyatso under Khenpo Palden Sherap Rinpoche.
More recently, Gerry has been working with Ponlop Rinpoche, Khenpo Gawang and Surmang Khenpo and has been focusing mostly on translating texts written by Jamgön Mipham Gyatso. This has naturally occurred owing to the blessings of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. In addition to being a member of NTC, Gerry is also a member of the Nitartha Translation Network under Ponlop Rinpoche. Gerry worked with Tony Duff on the original Tibetan! software used for publishing Tibetan manuscripts. Later he developed the Sambhota software with Lama Ugyen Shenpen. The Sambhota software has transitioned to Nitartha International and is now jointly developed with Lama Tenzin Namdak under Ponlop Rinpoche. Gerry lives in Boulder, Colorado with his wife and two daughters.
